Córdoba is one of the most beautiful cities in Andalucía. I studied abroad here two years ago and it was where I learned most of my Spanish. It is an important city as it was the capital of the Muslim empire in the Iberian peninsula in the 8th century.
Córdoba is known for its Mezquita-Catedral which is an architectural gem. It is a mosque that was built by Abd al-Rahman I and then converted into a cathedral. Today, it is a cathedral and used for Christian holidays and mass.
Another beautiful place to visit is the Alcazar. It is a beautiful castle with gardens and fountains. Some nights, there are even water shows.
The Puente Romano is a large bridge that is famous and used in some of the animation for the Game of Thrones TV series. A little outside of Córdoba, you can take a bus to Castillo de Almodovar which is a beautiful Moorish castle. Many scenes of Game of Thrones were filmed there as well.
